The Essential Guide To Central & Mid-Coast Maine Dairy Bars

No matter what political party you follow, what your religion is, or what type of job you have, one thing we can all agree on is that ice cream is great!  Unless you're lactose intollerant or vegan (we'll talk more about this later), of course.

Considering we are in a deep freeze for a significant part of the year, it may be kind of surprising just how many dairy bars and ice cream shops we have in the State of Maine.

And, all of the shops are so incredibly different!  No two ice cream shops are alike.  They serve up soft serve, hard serve, gelato, shakes, sundaes, parfaits, and more!  Dairy bar workers are like the bartenders of the dessert world, coming up with crazy, tasty, concoctions.

These days, most shops have something for people who are lactose intolerant.  Sherbet, sorbetto, oat milk ice cream.  Some even have vegan ice creams.  Again, made from either oat milk or almond milk.

Our list is in no particular order, so just keep scrolling until you find one near where you are now.
