Movies have been around for about 120 years as a legitimate form of entertainment.  Dozens of iconic movies have been released during that time, like Gone with the Wind, Titanic, Apocalypse Now, Star Wars, Giant, The Great Escape, Old Yeller, Pulp Fiction, etc.  The list goes on and on.

Without a doubt, one of the most ground-breaking, memorable movies of the last century is The Wizard of Oz.

For audiences that saw it in theaters in 1939, the transition from black & white to color was jaw-dropping.  It must have seemed like magic to them.

Even now, eight decades later, the movie is still considered iconic.  It really has withstood the test of time.

If you are older, you probably remember seeing it on a standard definition TV.  Definitely not the ideal way to see it. Now, your kids get the chance to see it on an HD TV.  Cool, but still nothing like seeing it on the big screen.

So, have you always wanted to see the iconic movie on the big screen?  We’ve got some great news: the iconic movie will return to theaters in celebration of the 85th anniversary of the release of the movie.

Fathom Events will present the movie in a bunch of theaters between January 28-31.

Not every theater will be featuring the movie, but if you are up for a road trip, there are a bunch near us.  Participating theaters in New England include the Regal Fox Run in Newington, New Hampshire, O’Neil Cinemas in Epping, New Hampshire, AMC Methuen in Methuen, Massachusetts, AMC Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers, Massachusetts, and the Showcase Cinema de Lux in Lowell, Massachusetts.
