Many theaters across the country are participating in "National Cinema Day" on September 3 by offering moviegoers tickets for just $3. Maine and New Hampshire have plenty of theaters participating where you can see a movie for just $3.

Theaters Still Struggling

According to CNN, the movie industry has not been able to fully bounce back after the dip in attendance since the pandemic. With many people not going out in public places in the same number for nearly two years, many turned toward streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu and HBO Max to watch movies, some even debuting on streaming services rather than in the theaters.

Back to the Theater

In an effort to get more people to enjoy movies the way they were meant to be seen on the big screen, The Cinema Foundation based in Los Angeles has created National Cinema Day where participating theaters, for one day, offer $3 movie tickets for every movie they're showing, every showtime and every format from standard to IMAX.

Here in Maine and New Hampshire there are plenty of theaters that are participating in National Cinema Day. We've done the heavy lifting for you and found the list by going to nationalcinemaday.org. The list of theaters may not be all-inclusive, so if you don't see your favorite theater, you might want to give them a call and ask if they are participating in National Cinema Day with $3 tickets.
