Thousands Show for ‘Women’s March on Maine’ in Augusta [photos]
In the days leading up the 'Women's March on Maine' in Augusta the number of people who said they were coming grew and grew. Well, they all showed and then a few! One of the organizers said there were 10,000 that showed for the event!
The weather cooperated and the sun even came out before the event was over. From my view point, there were tons of happy men, women and children. Even a few happy dogs were there.
In case you missed it, This is what the Facebook page for the 'Women's March on Maine' in Augusta has to say:
This is a rally in support of women's rights, civil liberties and protection of the planet. This is an INCLUSIVE march, and EVERYONE who supports women's rights is welcome including:
- Women & Girls & Femmes
- Men & Boys
- Gender Non-Conforming & Trans
- Families
- People of Color
- Immigrants & Refugees & Undocumented
- LGBTQ+ Community
- People with Disabilities
- Climate Change Advocates
- ALL Religious & Spiritual Communities
- Anyone else who wants to come out in support!
As you can see, it was an event that was an opportunity for many different concerns to come together.
There were similar events in a few Maine committees and most state capitals as well as Washington DC.
A big thank you to Capital Security for helping to keep the event safe. I did not seen any major issues.
Before and after Augusta was buzzing with people, I sure hope they took some time to look around, enjoy the capital city and all it had to offer!
