Yesterday afternoon, we learned that the Maine State Police and members of the Topsham Police Department were investigating a death at the River Landing apartment complex on Elm Street in Topsham.  The incident had reportedly started sometime after 9 AM on Tuesday morning.

Now, a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety has confirmed that the death was a homicide.

According to the press release, members of law enforcement were summoned to the complex by a complex staff member at about 9:30 on Tuesday morning.

First responders quickly contained the scene and determined that 64-year-old Christine Miller had died as a result of injuries she had received.  At that time, 71-year-old Robert McClure was secured by officers on the scene.

Christine Miller's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.  The press release explains that an autopsy was performed on Wednesday morning.  That autopsy determined that the cause of death was "sharp force injuries", and that the manner of death was homicide.

Robert McClure has been charged with murder in Christine Miller's death.  Both McClure and Miller were reportedly tenants at River Landing.

McClure is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on Monday, November 27, 2023 in Sagadahoc County.

Our thoughts go out to Christine Miller's family and friends in this difficult time.
