Twinkies Returning To Stores On July 15,2013

As if the start of summer wasn't enough to put a smile on your face, the tasty treats that you and I grew up with will be returning to store shelves on July 15th.After filing for bankruptcy in early 2012 and selling off its brands in chucks to several different buyers. The major bread brands were sold to Flowers Foods, which makes Tastykakes.McKee Foods, the makers of Little Debbie snack cakes, bought Drake's Cakes, which includes Devil Dogs and Yodels.

Metropoulous & Co. and Apollo bought Twinkies and other Hostess cakes for $410 million.

They plan on having Twinkies and other snack cakes back on shelves starting on July 15. The new boxes will have the tag line 'The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever.'

Production was consolidated, from 11 bakery plants to four, one each in Georgia, Kansas, Illinois and Indiana. The Biddeford, Maine factory was sold to Flowers Foods and it is still unknown at this time if that plant will reopen.

A box of ten Twinkies will cost $3.99, they may also introduce new snack cake options like gluten-free, added fiber, low sugar and low sodium.

Twinkies are back on July 15th. My vacation starts on July 20th, a coincidence? I think not!
