Vice President JD Vance Visiting Maine On Monday

Vice President JD Vance will visit Brewer Monday, where he is expected to deliver remarks at the headquarters of Compotech, according to the vice president’s office.

According to an article on the WABI website, the visit marks Vance’s second trip to Maine in just over three months. In May, he appeared at Bangor International Airport, where he discussed what he described as widespread fraud issues in the state.

During Monday’s visit, Vance will speak at Compotech, a Brewer-based company that manufactures ballistic panels and shelters developed at the University of Maine.

Compotech has received multiple industry awards and was recently named one of five finalists in the Freedom 250 Patriot Pitch Competition. The competition, created by the U.S. Small Business Administration, could award the company as much as $1 million.

Brewer police are warning residents to expect a significant increase in traffic throughout the day because of the vice president’s visit.

Police said several roads will have controlled access and may experience intermittent closures, including:

• East West Industrial Park Road
• Baker Boulevard
• Robertson Boulevard
• Stevens Road

Police are asking the public to avoid those areas if possible.

Maple Street Park has been designated as the area for people who wish to assemble during the vice president’s visit.

Drivers traveling through Brewer Monday are encouraged to plan for delays and allow extra time.
