Two teenagers were out for a walk near Carey Lane in Waterville along the Kennebec River on Friday. One of the teens decided to walk out on to the river to test the ice and fell through.

When authorities arrived at the scene, the teen had already managed to free themselves and get to safety. According to the article, no injuries were reported after the incident.

Waterville Police Sargent, David Caron went on to say “Don’t test the ice, it’s too early in the season, the ice isn’t thick enough to support anybody’s weight out there.”

Below is a video from ABC that shows you the best practices for surviving if you are ever to fall through the ice.
