Residents in Waterville will be voting on Tuesday on the cities 'pay-as-you-throw' and single -stream recycling. You can vote between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at 21 College Avenue.

The ballot question reads as the following: 'Shall Resolution 85-2014, which authorizes a 'pay as you throw' system of trash collection, and Resolution 86-2014 and 87-2014, which authorizes single-stream curbside collection and processing of recyclables, be repealed, effective September 1, 2015?'

A 'Yes' vote repeals the programs and restores the city's former trash collection system; a 'No' vote will keep the pay-as-you-throw and single-stream recycling.

Those who support the referendum, say that having to buy special trash bags for the program is a tax on it's residents. Those against the repeal say the program is working and is reducing the amount of trash the city collects.
