Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11,  and many national chains are saying "thank you" to veterans and active military members by offering freebies.

Many of the deals require proof of service, and some of the deals are extended to family members.

Here is a list of freebies for veterans and active military members:

Breakfast: 

Denny's: Active, inactive and retired military personnel can stop by participating Denny's to build a "grand slam breakfast" from 5 a.m. to noon on Nov. 11.

Starbucks: Free traditional free tall-brewed coffee for active duty service members, veterans and military spouses. Starbucks will also donate $5 to the USO Transition 360 Alliance with every purchase in select stores.

IHOP: IHOP restaurants across the country will give free red, white and blue pancakes to veterans and active personnel from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 11.

Lunch and dinner: 

Ruby Tuesday: Free appetizer for current and former service members at participating locations.

Hooters: Hooters will offer a free “thank you” meal to all active duty and retired military. The deal is available until close on Nov. 11.

Olive Garden: Veterans and active duty military can enjoy one of five entree choices at Olive Garden. Family members dining with the service members will receive a 10% discount.

Applebee's: Veterans and active duty military can pick a dish from Applebee's "Thank You Meal Menu," which include options like a 7 oz. house sirloin and cheeseburger.

Outback Steakhouse: Free bloomin' onion and a beverage for active and retired military members with a valid military I.D. at participating restaurants on Nov. 11. Outback is also offering all "Military Mates," including active or retired military members and their families, 15% off their check from Nov. 12 - Dec. 31. Deployed military personnel can get a rain check by registering at Outback.com/Military.

Golden Corral: Free "Thank You" meal and drink for veterans and active duty.

Red Robin: Free Red's Tavern double burger and bottomless steak fries for veterans and current service members.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt will offer all veterans and active duty military personnel a free cup of frozen yogurt (up to 11 ounces) on Nov. 11. Customers will need to provide proof of military service or come dressed in uniform.

Little Caesar's Pizza will offer a free pizza or a $5 Hot N Ready Lunch Combo to all veterans and active military members on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

 

Texas Roadhouse invites veterans and active duty military members to enjoy a free lunch on Nov. 11. Active, retired and former U.S. military can choose from one of 10 entries and beverage. Guests must show proof of service such as military or VA card, or discharge papers.

Applebee's will be offering a free meal Nov. 11 for all veterans and active-duty service members. Choose from 7 entrees, drink not included.

Longhorn Steakhouse will offer complimentary Texas Tonion and non-alcoholic beverage to veterans and active-duty service personnel on Nov. 11.

TGI Fridays will offer a free lunch for military members and veterans Nov. 11 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Chili's will offer all military veterans a free meal Nov. 11. Beverage and gratuity not included.

Great Clips: Need a haircut? On Nov. 11, Great Clips is giving patrons a free haircut card to give to a veteran they know. The card is redeemable through Dec. 31, 2015.  Veterans can get either a free haircut or a card to use later.

J&S Oil: Free car wash for Veterans and active military. In Manchester, Lewiston and Waterville.

Meineke: Is offering free oil changes with military ID on Veterans Day.

U.S. National Park:  Free admission for everyone.
