7 Things You Need to Know About Maine’s Windsor Fair Before You Go
As a Central Maine resident, the week of the Windsor Fair is one of my favorite weeks of the year.
If you have been to the Windsor Fair, you know that it is massive. In fact, it is the second-largest fair in the state. It is only slightly smaller than the Fryeburg Fair.
Given how large the fair is, sometimes it is difficult to miss things.
That's why we've put together our list of Seven things that you need to know before you go to the fair.
1 - The Fair Starts Earlier in 2024
Earlier this year, the announcement was made that we would be getting an additional day of the fair. Instead of starting on Sunday, August 25th, the fair will be starting on Saturday, August 24th. The last day of the fair will be Labor Day.
2 - Parking
While there are a few paid parking spots at the fair, 99% of the parking at the fair is free. There is a huge field across from the fairgrounds that is used for parking. There are even staffers on hand to direct you to a parking spot.
3 - Free Wifi
If you are a regular attendee of the Windsor Fair, you know that it ca be difficult to get service when the fair is busy. While certain providers have set up a tower dedicated to the fair, most people are just out of luck. According to the KJ, the organizers of the fair are combatting this by providing free Wi-Fi.
4 - Beer Garden
The beer garden is back this year. Put on by Cushnoc and the Nightcap Bar Company, the beer garden will be open from noon to 9 PM from opening day through Sunday, September 1.
5 - Live Entertainment
There will a pile of great shows throughout the ten days of the fair. In addition to the daytime performances at various locations around the fairgrounds, there will be some big shows at the grandstand. These include 12/OC, Chase Jobe Band & The Runnin’ Kind, and the Rave-X stunt show.
6 - Demolition Derbies
There will be two demolition derbies this year. These will be on Sunday, August 25, and Sunday, August 29.
7 - Half Priced Gate/Ride Day
On Wednesday, August 28, the gate price will be only $6 (kids 11 and under are free). Also, ride bracelets will only be $15.
