Winter Fun: Hit Speeds Up to 40 MPH on This 400-Foot-Long Maine Toboggan Chute
I was today years old when I learned about this extremely long, fast and gnarly toboggan ride in Camden, Maine and as an avid adventurer, I must go.
Located at the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area at 20 Barnestown Road in Camden, Maine awaits the ride of your life.
It's called the Jack Williams Toboggan Chute and in order to ride you have to be at least 42 inches tall, as the website states.
So now that you know you can jump on this puppy, let's get to the fun part.
Winter in Maine is full of boundless opportunities to become a snow bunny. You may not be a skier, snow boarder, or snowmobiler but if you want to enjoy a ride in that cold fluffy white stuff without having to operate anything, this is just for you! You can visit Camden Snow Bowl to participate in many different outdoor activities but this is one that needs to be highlighted for the pure intensity and speed.
This specific toboggan is 400 feet long and is 70 feet high, according to Camden Snow Bowl! Take a look at a first person account of the ride below!
As you can see this ride is fast and according to the website can reach up to 40 miles an hour! The handmade toboggan goes down a chute onto the frozen Hosmer pond and if their is clear ice that day, some sleds will go all the way across!
Did you know that the Jack Williams Chute was built in 1936 and even more interesting of a fact is that this is the only one of it's kind in the entire country, as the website says.
