It was country Sunday yesterday at Fort Halifax Park in Winslow yesterday, part of this year's Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration. During the festivities during country Sunday, committee chairman Kevin Douglass, made the announcement that country superstar John Michael Montgomery will be playing at Fort Halifax in Winslow next summer on July 3rd.John Michael Montgomery has had several country hits like, 'I Swear', 'Sold', 'Be My Baby Tonight', I Love The Way You Love Me' and many, many more great songs.

Along with the announcement, Douglass and the committee are looking for the public to help fund the performance by pitching in whatever they can. The show on July 3, 2014 will be free and open to the public.

The fun continues this year, today at Fort Halifax Park it's a golden afternoon and bean supper starting at noon. There will be the French Band LeFamille LeBlanc, oldies music with Bob Scovil and The Intruders, classic rock with Almost There and the Fourth of July Idol competition at 6.

Tuesday is a free family fun day at the park from noon until 9. There will be free pizza from Pizza Hut to the first 500 children to arrive, a truck display, a milking demonstration by Caverly's Farm, a live alligator and a 2,000 pound camel, pony rides and more for the kids! There will be acoustic music from noon to 5 and a hot dog and whoopie pie eating contests between 5 and 7 and wrestling in the park from 7 to 9, with yours truly as ring announcer!

Wednesday, comedian Tim Sample will perform from noon to 1 and again from 3 to 4. There will be an Elvis impersonator performing from 1:15 to 3. A street dance featuring the classic rock band Spare Change as well as a DJ showdown from 6 to 11.

Thursday is the big parade starting at 10 a.m., followed by plenty of live music in the park after the parade and a huge fireworks display at 9:30.
