Five players on the Maine Women’s basketball team will be transferring to other schools, the school announced in a press release. All but one is a freshman and the one that will be missed the most will be American East Sixth Player of the Year winner Laia Sole.

Head coach Amy Vachon thanked the players for their contributions to the basketball program and wished them luck. The loss may hurt the Black Bears who made it all the way to the American East championship game and was set to return 13 of 14 players from that team.

According to The Ellsworth American the head coach position is still up in the air too as Vachon is taking over for six-year head coach Richard Barron who has been on medical leave.
