I am headed back to the Big Apple for my 6 month post-op follow up.  Hard to believe it's been that long since I got my head screwed on straight.  This trip, I am taking 2 kids with me and, am planning how to make 6+ hours of driving a little more fun.  Here's what I've come up with!

According to minitime.com, here are some fun games to play on a roadtrip:

  1. I Spy - Simple enough.  'I spy with my little eye something...give a brief description' and let the passengers guess what you see
  2. The License Plate Game - The goal is to try and find as many different state license plates as you can.  With it being tourist season...and between Maine and NYC...I'm sure we can get most states.
  3. Bring a chalkboard or dry erase board and play games: Tic Tac Toe, Hangman, Pictionary and more
  4. 20 Questions...I throw caution into this game...20 questions can easily turn into 'Are we there yet? Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?
  5. I'm going on a picnic:  You remember this one.  You start with the first letter of the alphabet and each person repeats the last persons item and adds another until you get to Z.

After you've played these games...and only 20 minutes has passed...just give in to temptation and let the kids play their gadgets and gizmos.  The ride will be a lot quieter.
