It looks like another showdown could be happening in Augusta, between the democrats and Governor LePage. The Maine State House voted 81-63 in favor of a bill that would ensure people seeking asylum in the state continue receiving municipal welfare benefits.

An amendment was also approved that would limit that assistance for a 24 month period.

Governor LePage's administration is no longer reimbursing cities and town for general assistance to those seeking asylum and people who came to the United States illegally.
