It's a little strange to lose a body part. But that's what happened to St. Louis Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter when surgeons removed one of his ribs in an attempt to alleviate pressure that was running up his pitching arm. After the surgery Carpenter was presented with the bone, and he knew just what to do with it:

Since, as Red Sox fans, we have absolutely nothing to cheer about as this current Major League season wraps up, maybe we can look forward to next year. The 2013 MLB Schedule was released on Wednesday.

On July 18 the New York Yankees held a comfortable lead in the A.L. East and seemed destined for a deep playoff run. Since then, the Bombers have somehow managed to blow a 10-game advantage over the Orioles, leading to a scramble for first place and an extremely rattled New York fan base. Still, this is hardly the first time that a team with a comfortable lead has suffered a late-season collapse.

The 100th anniversary of Fenway Park sure has been a memorable one. Unfortunately for Red Sox Nation, it’s been a six-month long bad memory. Injuries set the tone for the season. Key players like Jacoby Ellsbury, Carl Crawford, Andrew Bailey, Will Middlebrooks and many more missing parts of the season. I am having my dream come true on Sunday as I take the field at Fenway Park to sing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch when the Boston Red Sox play the Kansas City Royals.  I'm taking Anderson, my boyfriend, Chad Hood and my best friend, Amber Bachelder, to Boston to attend.
