A Few Tips To Beat The Heat
The next couple of days are going to be on the toasty side. For some, it could be downright dangerous. A heat wave is considered 3 days in a row of temps 90 degrees and above, even though we may not hit that this time, I've come up with a few ideas to help keep you cool.
1. Drink More Water
It's super important to stay hydrated all year round but, when you’re sweating a lot, drinking enough water is even more important. Even though water may not be your only option, or even beverage of choice, it’s free and usually easily accessible for most of us. Whatever you do avoid drinks with alcohol as your only source of hydration, make sure you're still getting plenty of water along side those margaritas.
2. Make a DIY Air Conditioner
Running the AC the entire summer gets expensive. You can make your own do it yourself air conditioner on the cheap with some basic materials, such as the styrofoam-and-fan with vents and frozen bottles inside. It may cost you $8 which is a small price to pay. Do a google search for all kinds of easy designs.
3. Stay Cool While You Sleep
For me this is a must, I do everything I can to make sure the room I am going to sleep in is chilled. Heat is worst when you’re trying to get some shuteye, because a higher body temperature makes it harder to fall asleep. If all else fails, sleep on top of a wet sheet, it will help, it's also call “Egyptian method”.
4. Cool The Most Important Parts Of Your Body First
Know your body’s best cooling points will help you get cooler, faster, your wrist and neck, basically any place where the arteries are, cool off the blood and it affects the entire body. Grab a few ice cubes wrapped in a towel and apply to your pulse points, you’ll cool down more quickly.
