According to WMTW News 8, several crews have responded to a large fire that broke out in the early Thursday morning hours at the Penobscot McCrum potato processing facility in Belfast.

The plant is located on Pierce Street in Belfast and photos from the scene appear to show the majority of the large building fully engulfed in flames. WMTW reports that crews from several area departments have responded to the scene and are currently battling the blaze.

The plant produces everything from potato wedges to French fries, baked potato cakes, potato boats, skins and more.
