According to WGME 13, a woman is dead following a Saturday crash that happened in Portland between a motor vehicle and a bicycle.

Officials say that the crash happened just a bit after 2:30 in the afternoon this past Saturday. The crash occurred at the intersection of Portland's Park Ave and Mellen Street.

WGME reported that the cyclist that was hit was a 44-year-old woman. Though she didn't die on scene, she was transported to Maine Medical Center with what officials called 'life-threatening injuries'.

Sadly, the victim did succumb to her injuries later on at the hospital and eventually passed away.

WGME 13 is reporting that more information is suspected to be released early this week and that, at least currently, no charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle that struck the woman.
