Every year about a million people gather in Times Square in New York City to ring in the New Year with the famous 'ball drop' to ring in the year. You don't have to drive to New York to ring in the New Year with a 'ball drop' celebration. For the second year in a row, Augusta will have it's own 'New Year's Ball Drop'.

The owner's of Gagliano's Bistro have planned a ball drop celebration at midnight tonight from the corner of their restaurant at 287 Water Street in Augusta.

Along with the 'ball drop' at midnight, Phoenix Tribe will be out alongside Water Street 'spinning fire'. Guitarist Olin Moody, of Windsor, will be outside as the ball drops singing 'Auld Lang Syne'.

Inside the restaurant there will be a DJ playing music and a special four-course holiday menu.

Last year around 120 people gathered to watch the ball drop on Water Street, the organizers are hoping to build an Augusta New Year's tradition and hope for 200 people to attend this year.
