A SEA OF YELLOW: Augusta Wal Mart Staff Descend on Camp Out Hunger

The donations that came in throughout this week have been remarkable to watch and to witness for all of us at the radio station. You all are amazing and helped us to feed our brothers and sisters in Maine who are struggling with hunger.

But there was one group of people that none of us won't ever forget.

Our last night at Camp Out Hunger, something incredible happened. It was a little after midnight and I was sleeping in my camper. I thought I was dreaming of being at a concert with people cheering but I wasn't. People were really cheering, directly outside of my door.

A crowd of yellow vest wearing superstars walked from Augusta's Wal Mart to Sam's Club in the middle of the night. I got out of bed, looked out the window and I saw a sea of yellow. Must've been 30-40 Walmart employees, pushing tons of donations.

Dan-o, pictured below, who works Maintenance, was the leader of the pack. He was hooting and hollering, spreading endless amounts of joy to all of us. It was evident that this crew was super stoked to help to end hunger in Maine.

This was emotional to see, hard workers, taking time off of their busy work shift, to not only donate but enthusiastically put on a show for all of us.

Also, side note that I would like to share about Dano-o. He is such a good man and he cares about his job and his employees very much. He came to visit the next day, we all signed his vest and he and I spoke for a bit.

He shared with me that his staff are his family. He always wants to make them happy and even draws smiley faces on trash bags to share the love. He also loves his wife Brenda and told me she was, "smokin hot."

When you have a group of people who are dedicated to help change the world for the better, it makes you believe in humanity again. Thank you Dan-o, Augusta Wal Mart and your yellow vest superstars that visited us last night at Camp Out Hunger 2022.

We took this photo at the end and the fierce energy and fire from each one of these people was outrageously awesome. They donating a humungous amount of non-perishables and we couldn't be more honored to have had them bless us with their presence.

These are the moments that I will never forget.
