I was listening to Tim McGraw’s song ‘Back When’ this morning and some of the lines really hit home to past generations. Like: Back when a hoe was a hoe, Coke was a coke, and crack's what you were doing when you were cracking jokes.

It made me think of back to school ‘then and now’. Seems going back to school when we were kids was easier than it is now. Maybe it’s because we are the parents now and everything is on us to get our kids what they need and back then we didn’t worry too much about it.

The biggest worry I remember having was making sure I had ‘brand new clothes’ for the first day of school. I always looked forward to the first day of school and wearing those new clothes. Of course after the first few days you were, ‘ugh’ ‘back in school’.

Back then we seemed to have everything we needed from the supply list sent with us to school. Now, things are so expensive we get the kids what we can.

Back then we were excited about having a certain teacher for certain classes because we knew they were ‘cool’. Now if a teacher won’t let you have your cell phone or calculator in class they are ‘not cool’.

Back then just hanging out with your friends was good enough. Now taking a selfie with your friends is how you have to show you have friends.

Maybe this will jar your memory of back to school ‘then and now’ and make you recall some other things.
