Blizzard 2015: Tell Us Your Stories
What a storm! The blizzard of 2015 sure ended up being a big or even bigger than they foretasted. The snow totals ended up between 20 and 30 inches for many in central Maine. Plus with the wind and snow drifts it was a nightmare for driving and cleaning up.
I decided to drive home instead of sleeping overnight at the radio station. The radio station is on Western Avenue in Augusta and I live a little over three mile away, between O'Connor Auto Park and the Red Barn.
The drive mid-day yesterday was awful! The snow plow crews were out in full force and did a great job, but the visibility was really limited. I
have a small Nissan Sentra and it's never really been good in the snow, but I made it home and just beat the plow on my street and made it into my driveway.
Then the snow drifts! The driveway and walkway was buried in that light, fluffy snow. So, I shoveled my way from the car to my front door.
I decided around 7pm to go out and shovel again to make it easier to get on Wednesday morning. I could barely open my front door! The wind had drifted the snow against my front door and it was quite a job just to shovel to get to my car. I also opened up the end of the driveway. Good thing I did, the snow drift this morning at the base of my driveway was high but the people that didn't shovel at all were unbelievably high.
Just think, before the blizzard, we really didn't have much so on the ground.
My driveway is wide enough for two cars to park side by side, after the storm, I have barely just enough room for my car!
I was very thankful that we never lost power and my satellite dish never lost it's signal!
Get ready for more snow, the forecast calls for snow Thursday night into Friday and maybe another big storm on Monday! I am about to cry uncle. Tell us your story about the blizzard of 2015 and how you got through it.
