According to the KJ, on Wednesday, a virus forced the shutdown of staff computers and servers for the Bureau of Corporations, Elections and Commissions, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Maine State Archives.

According to the Secretary of State, no data was compromised and all affected services should be back online now.

The attack, which consisted of 1,600 emails, was identified at approximately 3 PM by the state's cybersecurity system.  All but 18 of the emails were stopped before they could reach employee inboxes.
