According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, a Central Maine man is dead following a Wednesday night crash in Chelsea.

The press release explains that Maine State Police troopers responded to a crash near 381 Togus Road in Chelsea at about 7 PM on Wednesday evening.

The driver of the vehicle, 28 year old Kevin Martin, of Jefferson, reportedly passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed and in an unsafe way.

The press release goes on to say that the vehicle:

came over a knoll and swerved to avoid a car pulling into a driveway. The driver then lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the center line and struck a telephone pole causing the vehicle to roll before it came to rest in a ditch on the westbound side of the road.

Mr. Martin was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the incident continues.
