Hey Maine, We Could Get the Gift of Nasty Weather This Christmas
Christmas is one of those family-centric holidays.
Even if you don't drive hours to spend the day with your relatives, there is a good chance that you'll drive at least 15 or 20 minutes to visit a relative that you don't see every day.
Of course, depending on how far you are going (and what roads you need to drive), those trips can be weather dependent.
As I write this, Christmas is just about two weeks away. As a result, we are starting to get a look at the forecast for the days leading up to the Holiday.
Right now, it looks like we could be dealing with some mild winter weather during the travel days before Christmas Day. The forecast on Weather.com is saying that we could see up to 3" of snow on Tuesday, December 23rd and another inch on Christmas Eve.
At this point, there is a chance (40%) that we could end up having to deal with a wintry mix on Christmas Day. So, a mix of snow, rain, freezing rain, and sleet. While meteorologists are only calling for about an inch of accumulation, the big pain will be the amount of ice that could possibly coat the roads.
Of course, we are still a few weeks out, so the weather forecast could change significantly between now and then.
Regardless, please be safe on the roads during the entire Holiday season.
When we get closer to Christmas, we'll provide an update.
