3 Injured After Old Town Bridge Collapses During Concrete Pour

According to an article on the WGME TV website, three people were reportedly injured Thursday afternoon when the Llewellyn Estes Bridge in Old Town collapsed.

The collapse happened around 2 PM while the bridge was under construction and concrete was being poured, according to Old Town City Councilor Katrina Wynn. Wynn said the two reported injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Wynn is urging people to avoid the area while crews assess the situation.

The Town of Orono is warning drivers that rerouted traffic could lead to delays along Route 2 in Orono.

The Maine Department of Transportation says it is assessing the situation and working to determine the extent of the damage.
