Inspiration is everywhere and I want to shed light on one extremely outstanding teen in Maine.

According to WMTW, Casey Raymond, 17, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes but that did not stop her from pursuing her dream of flying! She is a senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and always wanted to become a pilot.

That's right, Casey is a pilot. She will officially be added to the number of woman pilots because, according to Zippia, an article was put out on Pilot Demographics and stats in the US and it said the following,

"There are over 29,065 Pilots currently employed in the United States. 29.5% of all Pilots are women, while 66.1% are men. The average age of an employed Pilot is 45 years old."

Because Casey suffers from diabetes there are federal rules that require those to give documentation to prove they are safe to fly, according the WMTW article. Thankfully the Federal Aviation Administration gave Casey the OK to fly. So now, she officially has her third class pilot's license as a private pilot.

The article goes on to say, she took her flight training class at the Augusta State Airport and that she wants to go to the University of Maine at Augusta's Aviation program.

This story proves that no matter what health affliction you may have, you don't need to let it stop you from achieving your dreams. Casey is doing just that. She states in the article that she,

"wants to to supply runs to areas in need that have been hit by a natural disaster, or even like the whole war with Ukraine thing, there are a bunch of pilots who are flying supplies out there."

Casey says that she eventually wants to get her commercial pilot license.

Sometimes the most important and bravest thing you can do is never give up on your dreams. She has shown that nothing will hold her back and we can all take a page from Casey's book.
