The National Transportation Safety Board has recommended that states lower the blood-alcohol level from .08 to .05 when concerning the drunken driving threshold.

Reducing the level to .05 could mean some men and women could reach the legal limit after two glasses of beer or wine in one hour.

NTSB officials said one-third of all highway deaths in the United States involve an alcohol-impaired driver, and decreasing the legal blood-alcohol limit could save lives.
