It really is the end of an era.  Well, actually, several eras.

First published in 1818, the 2026 edition (the current edition) will be the last for the Farmers' Almanac.

According to an article on the WMTW website, the Farmers’ Almanac, which is based in Lewiston, just announced that the 2026 edition will be its last.

The team behind the longtime publication says it will also shut down its website in December and stop posting on social media.

A post on the Farmers' Almanac website says, in part:

We are incredibly proud of the legacy we leave behind and are filled with gratitude. We appreciate and thank our loyal readers, contributors, and partners who have supported us through the years. Though the Almanac will no longer be available in print or online, it lives on within you.

If you still want a copy of the final edition, you can find it on FarmersAlmanac.com, Amazon, or at local stores.

And just to clear up any confusion, this is not The Old Farmer’s Almanac. That one is based in Dublin, New Hampshire, and has been going strong since 1792.

In a time when, thanks to our cellphones, we have access to information instantly, the idea of consulting an annual publication may seem a little dated, there are still plenty of people who swear by the information provided by the almanac when it comes to planting their gardens or deciding when they want to take their summer camping trip.

There will be a lot of people who are going to miss the Farmers' Almanac.

We wish Peter Geiger and the entire team all the best.
