According to WABI, a former Maine school teacher has been arrested and charged for the sexual assault of a student.

The article explains that 34-year-old Clifford Barnes, who had been a teacher at Camden's Wayfinder School, allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old student.  The incidents reportedly took place between 2013 and 2014.

At the time of the alleged incident, Barnes was a teacher and an overnight counselor at the school.

His initial court appearance was on December 27.

He has been charged with four counts of gross sexual assault, one count of unlawful sexual touching, and one count of unlawful sexual contact.

Wayfinder has offices in Brunswick, Camden, and Machias.  Based on the school's website, it appears that the school is geared at helping non-traditional high school students get their diplomas.

The website for the school says:

Wayfinder is a student-centered school that provides opportunity for students to discover their strengths and succeed in meeting their goals. From the moment they enter our school they quickly understand that we are here for them—and will do all we can to help them earn their diplomas.
