Girl Scout cookies are going digital. It’s the Digital Cookie program that will go into effect this month. According to a spokeswomen for Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, Katie O’Reilly, it makes sense to have online sales in the digital age.

Scouts can create an ‘online order card’ to host their sale or you can download a digital app so you can use a credit card when they are out doing door-to-door sales. Girl Scout cookies sales raise over $800 million annually.

The idea behind the online sales is, of course, to sell cookies but it’s also to teach scouts skills like goal setting, money management, people skills, decision making and more.

Traditional cookie sales will start December 12th and online sales begin December 22nd and run through March 10th 2015.
