Here’s a feel good story that turned a hernia operation into $7 million and the man didn’t have to sue anybody. Joseph Amorese of Eaton, Pennsylvania was in the hospital recovering from hernia surgery when he got a get well card from his father.

In the get well card, his father included a scratch-off lottery ticket and when Amorese scratched the ticket it was a $7 million winner. He says it's was good thing he was sitting down when he scratched the ticket because he was in complete disbelief.

As Joseph lay in his hospital bed he wasn’t sure he was reading the ticket correctly, but once he sent a picture to his father, he confirmed the win. Amorese said he wanted to jump up and down but knew he couldn’t after having surgery, but in his mind he was.

He works for Verizon and his wife is a social worker in Pennsylvania and both say they have no intention of quitting their jobs. His father lives in New York and that’s where the lottery ticket was bought. Amorese, once released from the hospital, was in New York City at the Dollar Store to receive his ceremonial $7 million check.
