According to a press released from the Augusta and Gardiner Police Departments, those remains have been identified as 29 year old Megan Gregory.

Gregory had been missing since June of 2017.

Identification was made through dental records and medical examiners have not yet determined a cause of death.  However, they do say that her death is not suspicious.

According to the KJ, the remains were found on Sunday afternoon (1:30) by a person walking on north of Washington Street.

Police were on the scene until about 8 PM.

According to police, there is a lack of evidence at the scene, so identification of the remains could take some time.  Augusta PD has contacted Gardiner PD and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit in connection with the case.

According to law enforcement, there is no danger to the public.
