Donald Trump, who has been a controversial presence in the campaign to secure the Republican presidential nomination, is set to host NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 7.

In a move that is clearly designed to draw huge ratings to the show, Trump is scheduled to return to NBC after the network and its parent company, Comcast, severed all ties with him following controversial comments Trump made about Mexican immigrants.

However, leading up to Trump's appearance on the comedy show, an Illinois Congressman has called for the network to cancel Trump's hosting appearance.

On Oct. 20, Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Illinois), wrote a letter to Brian Roberts, CEO of Comcast and Stephen Burke, President/CEO of NBCUniversal, asking them to "disinvite" Trump.

"Having Donald Trump as a guest on every news and entertainment program is one thing, but allowing him to host 'Saturday Night Live' is another," Gutiérrez said in the letter. "It is a level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said since the moment he launched his campaign is acceptable and no big deal."

Gutiérrez also took his argument against Trump's hosting gig to the House floor.
