A Maine woman wanted in connection with an infant’s opioid overdose has been arrested following a multi-day search.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Brittany Wood of Eddington was taken into custody Tuesday after Brewer police stopped a vehicle in which she was a passenger.

Warrants were issued for Wood on July 10 as part of an investigation into an incident at an Eddington home on May 31. Deputies responded after receiving a 911 call reporting that an infant was in cardiac arrest, WGME reported.

Authorities say the child was given two doses of Narcan, an opioid-reversal medication. The infant regained consciousness following the second dose and was taken to a local hospital, where testing detected the presence of an opioid.

Investigators say Wood refused to turn herself in after the warrants were issued. The sheriff’s office then released a public notice seeking information, which generated several tips about her possible location.

Wood has been charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Bangor Daily News reports that Wood is a member of the RSU 63 School Board, which serves Holden, Clifton and Eddington.
