Living With Anxiety, How I Fight Back
For those like me who suffer from anxiety, you know how rough it can be. The way anxiety affects me, is I have a constant voice in the back of my head telling me something will go wrong, preventing me from enjoying many moments in my life. There are days where those thoughts are screaming at me making it almost impossible for me to even want to get out of bed, but then there are days when they’re nonexistent which allows me to see the world in ways I never had before, colors are brighter, food tastes better, and the simplest things like a text from a friend are so much more appreciated.
When I experience a bad day, the worst thing for me is the only thing I want to do, stay in bed and just dwell. Yesterday (Sunday) was one of those days. No warning signs occurred, I just didn’t feel like myself. Luckily I’ve dealt with this long enough to know how to handle it. After taking care of some personal things at home, laundry, cleaning up the kitchen etc. I took off, got in my car, picked a direction, picked a playlist, and just drove. For me, blasting music and driving is one of the best experiences in life, something about singing as loud as I can to music I love while drinking my favorite soda (dr. pepper) puts me at ease. I probably drove 100+ miles yesterday and loved every single second I was on the road. By the time I got home my mind was at ease and I was able to sleep well.
So for those of you out there who suffer from anxiety or depression, looking for a good way to escape, escaping might be your best bet, you don’t have to drive, just get out in nature and appreciate your surroundings. I hope this helps, you're not alone in this fight.
