According to an article on the WGME website, a drug investigation in Norridgewock led to several arrests this week, and according to authorities, a few of the suspects tried a pretty unusual escape attempt.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says deputies executed a search warrant Tuesday at a home on Ward Hill Road, just off Route 201.

When investigators arrived, they say three of the people inside the home tried to get away by slipping through a hole in the floor.  That plan didn’t work for long.  Deputies quickly located the suspects hiding underneath the house and took them into custody.

During the search of the home, deputies say they seized about 170 grams of fentanyl and cocaine, more than 200 pills, and $6,277 in suspected drug proceeds.  Authorities estimate the street value of the drugs at roughly $16,000.

Several people are now facing charges.

34-year-old Ariel Hernandez-Batista of Lawrence, Massachusetts, 28-year-old Luis Marte-Mateo of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and 44-year-old Luke Silvia, whose last known address was in Skowhegan, were each charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.

40-year-old Randell Woods of Madison was charged with possession of scheduled drugs and violation of conditions of release.

50-year-old Denise Webber of Norridgewock was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
