If you feel like you have been paying a little more for gasoline lately…you are. Maine gas prices rose by 3 cents a gallon according to GasBuddy.

Bangordailynews.com says regular gas went up 3 cents a gallon in the past week with a statewide average of $1.81 but the price hike is lower in Maine than the national average.

The national average rose 7 cents a gallon this past week. Most of the gas price hikes have been attributed to refineries switching to a summer blend of gas which is more expensive to produce.

The national average is up 11.2 cents per gallon as compared to last month and 34 cents per gallon more than a year ago.

The average price of gasoline in other New England states like New Hampshire and Vermont also rose in the past week, up more than 2 cents to $1.70 and up more than 1 cent to $1.85, respectively.
