Maine Gas Prices Up Sharply This Week

Gas prices in Maine and nationwide were much higher this past week. In Maine, the statewide average is at $2.53 a gallon, that's up from $2.47 a gallon from last week.

The national average is now at $2.54 per gallon, up from $2.45 per gallon last week.

The rise in prices is due to higher cost for a barrel of oil, which is now over $57 per barrel.

South Carolina has the lowest national average at $2.26 per gallon.

The lowest gas prices in Maine were reported at a gas station in Scarborough at $2.29 per gallon.
