Some Maine Residents Could Get Hazard Pay From State
According to the KJ, some Mainers could get a $300 "hazard pay" check as part of a new government program.
Mainers who worked during the pandemic could get a one-time payment of up to $300.
To be eligible for the one time hazard payment, a person would have to earned less than $75,000 as an individual, less than $112,000 as a head of household or less than $150,000 for those filing jointly on their 2020 tax returns.
Currently, the state estimates that about half a million Maine workers will be eligible for the payment.
The hazard payments are part of an $8.5 Billion budget approved on Sunday by the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.
