Maine & New Hampshire Could See A “Bomb Cyclone” On Saturday

Considering the temperatures, and wind, we have been having recently, there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that spring is on the way.  For example, on Thursday, the sun was out and some parts of Central Maine saw temperatures in the low 50s.  On top of that, we "spring ahead" this Sunday morning.

That being said, it does look like we are going to see one more storm this winter.  They are calling this Bomb Cyclone Winter Storm Quinlan.

I have see some amateur meteorologists calling for as much as a foot in the western and northern parts of Maine.

However, most meteorologists are calling for A LOT less snow.

According to The Weather Channel, Augusta / Waterville and the mid-coast of Maine will probably just get a mix of rain and snow.  Western and Northern Maine could see up to 8" of snow.

The big problem with the storm will be the significant winds.  For most of New England, the winds will be in the 15 to 20 mile per hour range, but they could gust at to 35 miles per hour in some places.

In New Hampshire, the coast will see a mix of rain and now with little accumulation.  The White Mountains, however, could see as much as 8" of accumulation.

Just like with any significant storm, no matter what time of year it happens, make sure you are prepared.  Have a supply of food and water, some extra batteries, and make sure your phones & tablets are charged.
