The Maine Ocean School expects to launch for the 2018-19 school year.
It's a Maine high school out of Searsport that hopes to graduate future ship captains, oceanographers, marine biologists and more.

Currently the school is looking for a director and administrative assistant. Once those positions are filled they will be hiring teachers and other staff.

The school will include courses in required content areas like such as math, English, arts and world languages but those programs will sometimes feature maritime twists. Students can specialize in programs focused on engineering, transportation, marine sciences or management.

On wgme.com an enrollment cap of 30 students will be in place for the first year.
