Maine ranked as the most peaceful state in the country, performing well in all categories measured. They rated the violent crime rate, murder and non negligent manslaughter, median household income and 2014 unemployment rate.

Violent crime was the second lowest in the nation, murder was the 7th lowest, household income was 16th lowest at $46,974 and unemployment was 21st lowest. Maine didn’t display characteristics of a state with low violence because most of those states have a higher medium household income.

Maine did very well in education too with just under 92% of adults with at least a high school diploma, the 5th highest in the nation.
