According to WABI TV 5, Maine will be receiving $3.5 million from the FHA's Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment Grant Program.

The grant will allow for 43 traffic signals to be upgraded with the new technology. According to WABI, the new updates will allow the upgraded signals to provide real-time traffic and signal data. Officials say that this should help alleviate delays on some Maine roads.

According to the FHA's Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment Grant Program website, they describe the program's purpose as; The FAST Act established the Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment Program to make competitive grants for the development of model deployment sites for large scale installation and operation of advanced transportation technologies to improve safety, efficiency, system performance, and infrastructure return on investment.

There was no information immediately available as to which Maine intersections will be getting the upgrades or when the new technology would be installed. We will continues to follow the story and provide detailed updates when we know where the upgrades will be going in the state.
