Monmouth Police Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver

The Monmouth Police Department yesterday (Aug. 29) responded to a car accident in front of Phil's Variety in North Monmouth on Route 202. An unknown black pickup truck was involved in the accident and fled the scene, heading towards Leeds. The pick-up truck possibly has front end damage.

Winthrop Rescue took a man to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a three-vehicle crash.

According to WMTW a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Stephen Kunze, of Monmouth, was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Annabessacook Road and as it turned, the black pickup in the opposite lane struck it and took off. There was a third vehicle also in the opposite lane that struck the first vehicle. It went up on a sidewalk and hit a van in the parking lot of Phil's.
