A young 600-pound moose was wandering in a small patch of woods near Parkwood Drive in Augusta's Ganneston Park neighborhood for a few days. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife had received a compliant on Wednesday morning of a male moose in that Augusta neighborhood.Maine Game Warden's responded on Wednesday morning, where they found the moose pacing outside the woods near a stone wall. Game wardens shot the moose with a tranquilizer gun and the moose ran towards onlookers, across a driveway and into another patch of woods.

The moose eventually collapsed. Game wardens then rolled it over onto a plastic tarp. Augusta police and firefighters helped to move to moose into the back of a pickup truck.

The moose was driven to the Alonzo H. Gracelon Wildlife Management area on the outskirts of Augusta. The moose eventually came to and slowly made its way into the woods.
