NASA’s moon probe LADEE (Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer) has been studying the moon's thin atmosphere since its launch in September, 2013. This space probe will not be coming back to Earth; NASA is going to crash land it on the far side of the moon.

They even have a contest where you can predict the exact day and time the probe will crash land on the moon. No one knows the exact time the crash will happen because the moons gravity field in very uneven. The instruments that run LADEE will be turned off on April 11th and the crash should occur sometime before April 21st.

The resulting crash will make a new crater on the moon which will be visible by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in the months ahead. You can take you guess on the crash landing here: socialforms.nasa.gov
