According to the KJ, a plan to renovate an old Water Street office building into nearly two dozen apartments will go before the planning board on Tuesday.

Block's owner Andrew LeBlanc plans to renovate old office space on the upper floors of the building (257 - 271 Water Street) into a series of apartments.  The Water Street level would remain used as retail space and the lower floors would be used as a gym and shared work spaces.  .

The project would be called "The Vickery" after one of the historic buildings within the block.

Up to $960,000 of the funds needed for the project would come from state and federal historic preservation tax credits and several banks have expressed interest in funding the project.

The review and hearing are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the council chamber at Augusta City Center.
